Full description

Try out authentic delicacies as you immerse yourself in the local culture of Rome on a walking tour. Taste unmissable Roman foods such as pizza from a family-run establishment, Supplì (fried mozzarella rice balls), and typical seasonal dishes from Rome’s Jewish Quarter. Meet in Piazza del Biscione before whetting your appetite at a local charcuterie at your first stop. Sample some typical Italian cured meats and some local wine there.

Then head off to try Rome's well-known tasty street food, Supplì. Your guide will fill you in on these rice delicacies' 19th-century beginnings and how they earned their name. Next, taste some classic Roman pizza and Menabrea beer at Roscioli, an establishment run by the founder’s grandchildren.

After this, you’ll be heading to the Roman Ghetto, Rome’s old Jewish Quarter. Here, sample traditional zucchini flower fritters or carciofi alla giudìa (deep-fried artichokes), depending on what is in season at the time. Finish up the tour with a delicious artisanal gelato at Punto Gelato near Largo di Torre Argentina, the site of four ancient Roman Temples and Pompey’s Theater. Savor the unique northern Italian flavors at a gelateria that featured in Gambero Rosso’s Top 10 list of the best gelato in Rome.  Choose from either a private experience just for your group or a small-group experience. I loved every second of the tour. The food was diverse and delicious. Deli meats, wine, pizza, beer, suppoli and gelato - I wouldn’t change a thing. Our guide knew all kinds of great information about the city, and was happy to answer all of my questions. As someone who is in love with Rome and had a lot of existing knowledge as well as a ton of extra questions, I appreciated her being so open to questions and knowing so much about my favorite city.

Our Guides were Elisabeth and Monica. From the start she was very knowledgeable with local food, explaining the Roman diet. First tasting was to a cured meats shop, with displays of salami on show. The 5 samples we got to taste were fantastic. So much so i HAD to go in and buy some of my favourite. We went onto to have one of the main staple food i have when in Rome - Suppli, A ball of rice coated and fried with a “Surprise” inside. Elisabeth walked us from one place to another, pointing out the history of the area. Pointing out where Julius Ceaser found out he didn’t have many friends. Pizza was next - a Roman slice and a Margarita to taste the difference of the two. From one of Romes best bakery’s . The next stop was in the Jewish Quarter, where we had Artichokes double fried. Again the History and feel of the place was quite poignant. With the “Stumbling stones” of names. Take a look at the white plaque on the wall when you go. Ice cream was next - White Lemon for me.

Out of all the guided tours we did in Rome (including Paris as well), this guided tour is my favorite one because of our tour guide Eleonora! She is super friendly, very knowledgeable, and a fun guide! She gave us interesting insights that we wouldn’t have known about Rome such as the Jewish Ghetto and taught us how to pick the best gelato place! Overall it was a really great tour and an intimate experience! Highly recommend to those who are visiting Rome especially for the first time!
